The following are approximate dates when I will do
something. If past experience continues, actual
completion of scheduled tasks may be off by as much as
give or take two weeks.
- 1.
- Monday, April 6, 1998 thru Sunday, May 2, 1998:
Examine available documentation on Windows NT to determine
how the NT auditing features work and whether they can be
used for a study of file access patterns.
- 2.
- Monday, May 3, 1998 thru Sunday, May 9, 1998:
Determine extent of Windows NT 4.0 kernel source code and
begin looking at file system related source. Document the
code which do auditing related tasks.
- 3.
- Monday, May 10 thru Sunday, May 16, 1998:
Continue study of Windows NT 4.0 kernel source code
(including documentation of the code which perform
auditing tasks).
- 4.
- Monday, May 17, 1998:
Decide how to proceed, based on what is known at this time.
- 5.
- Tuesday, May 18 thru Fri., May 29, 1998:
Write code for any necessary simulators and decide how
to do the disk optimization study.
- 6.
- Remainder of quarter
Catch up time if I get behind schedule. Hopefully, a real
system trace will be available to do testing of simulator
and get some real work done.
