PerfectDisk NT

Raxco Software produces a disk defragmentation program called PerfectDisk NT. PerfectDisk does not patch or bypass the file system. It also does not require multiple passes. [Sof]

PerfectDisk categorizes files into three categories.

• Warehouse files are files that have not been accessed for a long time. PerfectDisk puts warehouse files at the outer edges of a disk. [Sof]
• Ordinary files are files that have been accessed recently. PerfectDisk puts ordinary files next to warehouse files (but closer to the center of a disk). [Sof]
• Volatile files are recently created files that are most likely to be accessed, edited, or deleted. Volatile files are collected together next to the free space. [Sof]

By organizing files in this fashion, a full disk defragmentation requires twenty percent less time than would otherwise be required. In addition, there is a thirty percent improvement in performance just by consolidating volatile files and free space alone. [Sof]
