Tools Used

In this chapter, I explain what hardware and software I used for my project. Many categories have multiple listings since my hardware and software at home do not match the hardware and software at UCR.

1.

The following are the computer systems I used for this work.

• Barnett's home computer is a 166 MHz Pentium-based system running version 4.2 of the Red Hat distribution of Linux and the original release of Microsoft Windows 95. Linux kernel is version 2.0.35. gcc version is 2.7.2.1.
• The UCR CS Dept. server hill is a dual processor Pentium II-based system running version 5.1 of the Red Hat distribution of Linux. Linux kernel is version 2.1.105. gcc version is 2.7.2.3.
• Some work is also done on the HP workstations in the Mirage lab. OS is HP/UX B.10.20. gcc version is 2.7.2.2.
